Your gift is something you're born with, ever had a person come up to you say why art? why not by an accountant, a banker, a doctor or a nurse?
The reason they say that is because they can't see your dream for you, if was given to you, not them. Self doubt, pity feeling, sorrow and anxiety are all things we allow into our lives when we are not focused on our gift. You know that feeling you get when you've finished a piece and it looks awesome, that feeling is the same feeling athletes get after finishing a race or a hiker gets after climbing a mountain.

Even though I didn't draw for most part of my life, I know I was born with the gift to draw. One of my first memory as a child is of my Mom painting a flower patter on a pillow. I remember taking part in weekend art fairs where we would sit on the grass and paint a landscape after which we were all given a piece of sweet and pencils. I remember all these as being my good memories, for some reason they stuck in my mind more than anything else. Only after moving to England I stopped drawing, I didn't think I had it in me, my friends were way too good and my teacher really thought she knew what she was saying when she commented on my art abilities. I let that get the best of me and just complained about the fact that maybe it wasn't meant to be. From the age of 14 I started working at various places, over 20 and gained some experience but I didn't enjoy any of the jobs as much as I enjoy drawing. My gift has always been with me and as much as I let the society tell me that there is no money in art and you'll struggle just like the other artist, I believe in my talents and skills. I believe that I can make more money selling art than working in a bank or owning a business that I don't enjoy.

What gifts are you born with?

Maybe you like drawing comics, concept art, animation, 3D art or photography. Whatever dream you have, make sure you work on it, improve it, gain new skills to allow you to take your gift to a new level. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do, not your parents, your sisters or your closest friend.

Enjoy the rest of your week,

Sometimes we forget to smile because we're too busy looking at our future goals. Let me tell you something, you've worked too hard to be where you are. You've worked through the hard times, the deadlines, the personal issues, the family issues, burning the midnight turmoil when necessary and you still waiting for the future to bring you happiness. Don't hold the past against you, let the future drive you for the greatness it has to offer. Learn from your failures and let them go, praise the achievement but don't get too excited about them, as they will stop you from growing further.

You don't know whether your goals will make you happy once you achieve them, so why not be happy about the things we've already done and then look forward to the heap of things that are working their way towards us.

Smile! Its the greatest asset you have, no one can take that away from you and its a skill you were born with.

Let the journey be exciting and full of surprises, learn from it and let yourself grow through the experience rather than to simply go through it.

Signing off, with the greatest smile,

We were all born at difference time and grew up with different experiences from one another, exposed to different environment. So why do we compare ourself to others and rush to overtake them or be better than them?

I remember that when I moved to England aged 13 my classmates were light years ahead of me, they could all speak eloquently without hesitating. They knew what the trends were, they could easily mix into the society and they all seemed to be in the same bogie of the train, with me being the alien. I felt as if it would be impossible for me to get to there level, however I was passionate to learn, hungry to grow and eager to overcome my fears. I was willing to go out of my way to learn that which was necessary to hold a conversation in a language different to my own.

'If your dreams are big enough the odds don't matter' - Unknown source

In the process I realised that if you are passionate and stay consistent, you will eventually reach your goal. I not only managed to learn to speak in a local accent and quite fluently, but within 3 years I managed to reach the top 5% in my class. Only a handful of students from my school went to the University and I was one of them. At times when I tried to rush myself in order to compete with others I ran out of fuel and giving up became a sweet dessert.

Even though I joined the party late, I was slowly making progress and by setting high goals for myself. So the next time someone says he or she is so good and so young, just remember that they might have a head start on you but that doesn't mean that they are instant winners.

In conclusion I would say:

'Don't rush your way to failure, work your way to success.'

We are so shy when it comes to expressing ourself, we miss great opportunities just because we think that we're not worth it.

I was at the CA workshop recently and when it was time to show our portfolio to this art director from MPC London, no one came forward. There were about 20+ people standing around me and when she asked us to see our work, I was the only one who dared to put my work in front of her. Why? There were people asking me to ask questions from her, and were too afraid to make an error.

Which lead to me thinking about something I was reading earlier on this month, about animals. See animals, they don't wear clothes, they don't hid in rooms for their private moment, to give birth and when they're talking to each other. Why can't we do the same?

  • Why are we so afraid of going after our dreams?
  • Why are we scared of other peoples opinion about us?
  • Why do we hesitate when talking in front of a large group of people?
  • Why do we ask others for approval, knowing in our heart that we can make it?

I believe it has to do with our brains. We are the most educated species on earth and rather than using our brains for greatness, we use it to anticipate what others think about us. We let others tell us what we're worth and we let them bring us down.

Just because they failed doesn't mean that you have to fail to. You are capable of achieving whatever goals you have set for yourself.

So next time its time for you to shine or express yourself, don't let your brain get in the way. Think like animals and just go all out. You'll feel much better after doing so.

When my friend Daniel asked me to jump on stage and talk to 300+ people that came to the Concept Art Workshop. I did not hesitate. I asked Jason Manley if I can talk to the crowd and he agreed, so there I was facing my fears. It was terrifying and exciting but I definitely felt good afterwards. Let me know if you've recently overcome your fears or are willing to do it the next time the opportunity knocks on your door?

All failures will unlock the next level.

Push through the work you've set yourself and even if you fail, it'll open the door to take you to the next level. Almost as if god exist and can see when you're working at your best and need a hand. He'll come at the right moment and show you the right path. If you don't believe in god then people/ close friends will do the same.

Whether public or private, its ok to fail. I've started so many things and promised everyone that i'll do this or that and then not been able to do it. That doesn't mean that I gave up. It just means that I need some more preparation to take it to the next level. A weight lifter doesn't know weather he can lift a 500 pound set until he tries it, chances are that he'll fail a few times before he can eventually lift that weight. Every time the fail will remind him of how far he is from that goal. It'll also make his other sets easier because now he can visualise the end.

Taking the first step is the hardest part, once you get past your fears and just make a move, the end becomes closer.

Ps: Fail, stare right in the eye of failure, get back up and go in stronger.
