I really love how you painted the buildings in the background. You used lasso tool, painted over and then erased some parts, right? The ships also look nice but it would have been great if you would've chosen a slightly raised or lowered perspective angle, for a better understanding of the design. Right now, you can't really understand what's happening in there.
Hey V, only just got some time to reply to this. Yes, I use lasso tool a lot in my work. I agree with you on the perspective thing. I treated the foreground and the background as different things. I should've spent more time getting the perspective right. I'll definitely work on that in my next piece. Cheers!
I like this one, both in your treatment and design. You've used the contrast of colour against neutrals, you've imparted a sense of movement, shown scale and given a little bit of narrative by showing the environment enough by suggesting things rather than render them out fully. I think the "punk" design on your craft comes through nicely as well. If I was to crit it would be on doing more differential treatment on the rendering of materials and I question the choice of side perspective for both vehicles. Another thing that comes to mind is functionality as a design...while it may be hidden I have to imagine this craft's landing apparatus and it doesn't seem entirely workable without this. The little jet antenna thing at the bottom is a little odd IMO. There. Honest crit.
Hey Amit, sorry for the late reply. I really appreciate you taking your time to write this critique. Perspective is still my weakness and i'm working on improving that. Rendering different types of material is also another one of my weakness at the moment. I did this one as a fun exercise and I wanted to rest my brain on a Sunday afternoon and so for that reason I didn't really give much thought to functionality. I just wanted to have fun with this piece. Really appreciate the honest crit and i'll definitely improve on these points in the near future. I have too!
